Emotions can be a tricky thing for young children and toddlers to grasp the concept of. These penguin Emotion Flashcards will be a useful tool for teaching these children to identify their feelings. They could also be used for teaching different words to express themselves or to help the children recognise and understand others feelings as well. You can also stick these up on to a wall, so that children can point at these words if they need to express themselves.

Materials Needed:
– Printer
– White Paper
– Laminator
– Paper cutter
This Penguin Emotion Flashcards printable contains the following vocabulary. There are 8 emotions covered.
– Happy
– Angry
– Excited
– Mad
– Sad
– Scared
– Surprised
– Worried
Ideas for use:
– Punch holes in the corner of the cards and put them together onto a binder ring. Flip through the cards and read out the word.
– Print the black and white copies and give ask your children to colour in the emotions.
– Show a card and ask your child to imitate the emotion shown to him or her.
– Put the cards into a pocket holder and keep it as a communication corner, where they can express how they are feeling.
-Play a game where you make a face copying one of the cards and they have to guess which emotion you are making.
These cards come in colour and black and white. Just print whichever copy suits you better.
