Take the paper plate and paint the upper part of it blue. Use washable paint if your learners are younger, especially if you think this activity might become messy. (Spoiler alert: It likely will.😅)
Paint the lower part of it black. Keep it aside to dry.
Next we need to make the school bus. For this , you’re going to need the FREE template which you can download at the end of this blog post. Just enter your details into the orange box at the end of this blog post and you get the template in your inbox immediately.
Using the template cut out the pieces for the school bus. Cut out the body of the school bus onto yellow construction paper.
Using black construction paper and the template, cut out three black squares, two circles and one rectangular strip.
Now we can assemble the school bus. Use the photo below for reference. This bus is absolutely adorable!
Take a popsicle stick and using a glue dot or just regular glue attach the popsicle stick onto the school bus.
Take the now dry paper plate and make a cut along the black border to create a slit. A grown-up can help students with this.
Crumple up some tissue paper to resemble clouds and stick it on the blue part of the paper plate. Cotton wool can also be used for this.
Take white tape or small strips of white paper and add it just below the line you cut. This is to resemble a road which the bus will be moving on.
Now all that’s left is to inset the popsicle bus into the paper plate.
Now, your learners can jiggle and wiggle the bus around through the slit as though the bus is moving.
