Read on to get the directions needed and have fun with this fun spring chick craftivity!
Supplies Needed
- Paper plate
- Yellow paint
- 2 large googly eyes
- Yellow feathers
- Orange felt square
- Paintbrush
- Glue
- Scissors
Orange card stock or construction paper will work as well, if you don’t have any felt on hand.
Directions to Create the Paper Plate Chick Craft
Gather the supplies for this craft. The required supplies are listed under ‘Supplies’.
Start off by painting the paper plate yellow.
Make sure the whole paper plate is painted.
Leave it aside to dry completely.
Using the orange felt, cut out a triangle shape for the beak.
Cut out two legs, similar to the one shown in the picture.
If you do not have orange felt you can always use orange colored card stock or construction paper.
Now, it’s time to glue on everything.
First, glue on the 2 googly eyes near the middle of the paper plate.
Take the triangular beak just under the eyes and glue it into place.
Take the legs and glue them at the bottom. Glue it to the back of the paper plate.
Finally, take the feathers and glue down the feathers at the top of the chicks head and on the sides to represent the wings.
I love using these feathers liberally because it adds such a fun sensory touch to the craft at the end.
And you’re done! Isn’t this chick so cute and adorable?
Making the Craft Activity Simple
There are a couple of ways that you can choose to make this craftivity simpler especially if you would like to do this with younger learners like toddlers.
Firstly, you can choose to use yellow colored paper plates. This would remove the painting process, which is likely the messiest step in this whole craft. You would also not have to wait until the paper plate dries to begin the craft.
If your learners are not familiar with using scissors, cut apart the pieces (beak and legs) for them ahead of time, so all they will have to do is to paste them.
That’s all! This paper plate chick craft is a super simple craft that I am sure your learners will enjoy and love creating!
