Spring is a fantastic time of learning for our kindergarteners. From baby animals to the lovely weather, spring is a fantastic time for our little learners. There are so many fun things to explore and learn about and these Free Spring Place Value Task Cards printable are perfect to engage our little learners in a spring math activity.
What’s the Greatest Number? (Free Spring Math Center)
In order for learners to gain understanding of the number concept and place value, they should be able to compare numbers and determine which number is larger than the other. A further extension of this activity would be to order the numbers from largest to smallest or smallest to greatest.
When learners are able to determine which number is larger than the other they are able to better cement their understanding of place value and number concept. This in turn, will help them in better understanding other math concepts such as addition or subtraction.
Spring Place Value Free Printable:
This is a simple and low-prep free place value printable. Once the printable is prepped, simply place the cards at a math center for your learners to use.
Materials Required:
- Free ‘What’s the Greatest Number?’ printable (at the end of this post)
- Printer
- Laminator
- Clothes pin or circle counters
Prepping the Printable:
Download and print the printable. Laminate the pages and cut apart to create the place value task cards. Print as many recording sheets as required for your learners.
This printable includes:
- 20 task cards containing the numbers in colour and black and white
- Recording Sheet
- Answer Key. You can ask your learner to self check their answers, so you can correct them after they finish.
Using the Place Value Printable:
Provide students with the task cards and the recording sheets at a center. Learners will pick up the cards and identify the numbers present in the flowers.
They will then identify which is the largest number from the three and record it in their recording sheets. They can refer to the answer key which is included to check their answers.
